[When Momo comes home the lights are mostly off, except for a couple of candles on the table in the dinning room.

Yuki made dinner for Momo, with all the things he could find that he knows Momo likes. Sadly, Yuki wasn't prepared for Momo just yet, as he was putting the dessert in the fridge and taking off the apron as Momo walked in.]

Welcome home Momo, and happy birthday.

[Momo didn't end up taking his birthday off work this year - or at least not entirely, in part because his work friends wanted to drag him out for lunch. Which is perfectly acceptable as long as he gets the later parts of the day with Yuki, but things do end up running a fair bit longer than he expected, between late lunch in the first place and people trying to get him day-drunk after they move from the restaurant to a bar or two.

He keeps to minimal drinking today, though, and is still in perfectly serviceable condition once he makes it home (if starting to get hungry again, which is probably good timing given how he knows Yuki tends to treat his birthdays). As such, as soon as he's announced his return and left his odds and ends at the door, he makes a beeline for the kitchen.]

Oooh, this already looks amazing, darling...did I come a little bit early? I can stand in the corner and cover my eyes until everything's ready.

[With the dramatic way he demonstrates covering his eyes, he's clearly joking about that, but he's still genuinely touched as ever to have Yuki cooking for him.]

Not at all, the dessert just took longer than I thought it would.

[Yuki leaves the apron in the handle of the oven, and goes to Momo, grabbing his hands and pulling them away from his face, before placing a small kiss on his lips.]

Now, come on, the table is set, all you need to do is sit.

[For a moment, Momo does a bit of a dramatic little hover, like he's considering doing it anyway, but Yuki coming to take his hands puts paid to that joke fairly quickly. Flicking his tongue playfully against Yuki's lip in that brief moment of contact - because sometimes he feels like being cheeky when he hasn't been around Yuki all day - he shifts the position of his hands so his thumbs can run along the back of Yuki's fingers.]

Thanks for spoiling me again. [Even if he always likes to joke about how dangerous it is to spoil him, because it always feels like too much. But he'll follow Yuki's lead and go to sit down, as weak to the smell of his partner's cooking as ever.]

[Yuki chuckles.]

It's your birthday, you have to be spoiled.

[He takes his seat in front of Momo, picking ups the wine bottle he set up on the table and opening it, filling the wine glasses as quick as he could.]

I hope you like it.

[Momo could poke fun at Yuki's propensity to break out the wine specifically at every opportunity, but he does have pretty good taste in wine, so he can't complain too much. Even if he could use some small distraction to keep him from falling upon the food before Yuki is done pouring drinks, because the temptation is all the stronger with it sitting right under his nose.]

I don't think I've ever not liked something you've cooked for me, darling. [Once the pouring is done, he lifts his glass, tilting it slightly towards Yuki for a toast.]

Should I toast to getting to be older than you for a month? [Because he can't help but tease that. With the disparity between when they arrived from home, Momo's now 28 because he had the opportunity to turn 26 back home before he showed up. Though having had 2 birthdays in this world now is a bit of a strange feeling.]

[Yuki smiles, because Momo's words, sweet as he always is, makes it impossible for him not to smile.]

You never know, there might be a first time.

[He blinks, remembering the weird time changes in this place make it so weird for him. He's gone through so much and yet hasn't been a full year. Ridiculous.]

I was thinking of toasting to your gorgeous self, but sure.

[With a line like that, Momo can't help but be a little dramatic, holding his free hand to his cheek.]

You know if you start calling me stuff like that, I have to start calling you handsome in return, and then we get trapped in a circle...

[Which is really just an excuse for Momo to escape compliments he can't deal with, even if he's better at it now than he used to be. It's felt easier to be nice to himself lately, but old habits are difficult to break even so.]

You’re gorgeous, beautiful, stunning.

[Yuki says all of this with the most monotone voice he can muster, smirking as he takes a sip of his wine. He does smile however, as he’s getting ready to eat.]

Go ahead, darling, eat.

Don't just say it like some programmed response!? [That was a wide open invitation for Momo to chew the scenery, so he takes it before finally taking a sip of his wine. It's the kind of flavour profile he likes - deep, fruity but not too sweet - and he gives an appreciative sort of hum as he sets the glass down.

The finer points of cooking are a mystery to Momo, so while he always knows to expect gratuitous amounts of meat on his birthday, the preparation (or whether it's a slightly more special spin on a dish he already knows Momo likes) tends to elude him. That's definitely not going to stop him from diving right into it, though, so there's a piece of steak cut and in his mouth within a few seconds. Which comes with something almost more along the lines of a moan of appreciation, because sometimes he just gets like that about food.]

You've ruined restaurants for me, Yuki. I love it. [Both this particular food and the broader fact that Yuki has ruined restaurants for him.]

[Yuki chuckles, he can't help it. Momo is cute, even if he doesn't say it often, and seeing him enjoy something Yuki himself had made? Priceless.]

[Momo can't help but look faux affronted at the idea that he wouldn't like it that much, his free hand going to his heart.]

Of course! My darling's cooking is a creation that needs to be savoured every time! I can feel your love in every bite.

[Only Momo can get away with saying this sort of thing and actually making it sound remotely sincere.]
